French Polynesia Atolls cruises

Talking with a couple of friends last week, they told me that they cruised the French Polynesia...according to them, it's the best way to visit these beautiful atolls - otherwise TOO EXPENSIVE and BORING after a while.
In this way they could eat on the ship (all inclusive of course) and explore the areas during the day. I will be considering this option, has any of you have had a similar experience?? Share
