Is a Resort the best solution?

I've heard different opinions on this issue. On one hand, you get all your meals, drinks, activities and everything else paid for. On the other hand, if you're planning on going to an all-inclusive resort, there really isn't much to see outside of the resort; unless you take local transportation which may or may not be the best idea.

I fancy all-inclusives - but only in some places, like the Caribbean. Anyone else have an opnion on all-inclusive resorts?

I agree with you. I've travelled a lot, both types of vacation- sightseeing/culture tours, and then all-inclusive resorts. Generally, I would probably choose a more cultural trip where I get to know a country and their main attractions, but I have to say, once in a while it is nice just to go to an all-inclusive resort and spend a week relaxing by the pool, eating well, and chilling with families or friends. I don't think we should feel guilty if we take some trips like this once and a while. And, even if you are in an all-inclusive resort, you still can make the effort to arrange to do a tour outside the resort, or rent a care or take public transportation to see what the surrounding areas offer.

I perfectly agree with you beachy...

I'm also still the adventurous traveller (well, not TOO adventurous)...but now I'm seriously thinking about an all-inclusive solution, maybe a cruise?!!!
But where....I'm getting married in June and would really love to have a holiday like you described above..know some good places around that period, or a little later?!

Hi everyone,

i've been to the caribbean many times, and just about anywhere you wanna go is going to be beautiful :) if it's your first time then i would recommend a cruise because you can see more than just one beach. what kind of a trip do you want to go on? The ULTIMATE caribbean resort is the Atlantis Hotel & Casino in the Bahamas. They have everything u could imagine, lol. If you're going to pick just one place to go, I would definately recommend Paradise Island.
