Hello there!

Has anyone ever been to Petra?

I've heard it's really beautiful but also that over the last years it has become more touristy...

Suggestions? I'd like to avoid big hotels and stuff like that!

Just got back from Petra.
Well, it is as touristy as you can get in Jordan, but not bad, really. If you're going to Jordan, don't miss it! It's actually a quite large area, where you can easily wander by your own.
Current entrance fee is 21 JD.
There are many hotels nearby in Wadi Musa, some bigger international ones and a lot of smaller local choices.
